Tips for cosying up your bedroom

When you move into a new home or decide to give your house a revamp, there is no better place to start than your bedroom. Being one of the most important parts of your house, (after all, sleep is one of life’s essentials) make it feel cosier this winter with our handy tips.

Keep things neutral
Can’t decide on a theme for your room but want to keep it fairly simple? The easiest way is to start is with neutral tones: white, beige and cream are great foundations. From here, add in earthy accents to complement, or to breathe new life, experiment with colour. From dark green or deep rust to bronze and gold, you can transform your look entirely with just a few changes to your colour palette

Experiment with colour

Following on from above, maintaining a few pops of colour throughout your house not only gives it a personal touch, but also makes it feel inviting. We love winter tones like beige, dark blue, olive green and grey, but if you want something lighter, pastel colours are a great way to adhere to the minimalist code, without being too eye-catching.

Texture is important, too.
Texture can be incorporated into the bedroom through bedroom accessories like rugs and throws. Add a thick, fluffy throw in a neutral colour to your quilt cover, and lay down a soft floor rug to complement the colours – if you have floorboards this an easy way to add warmth in the cooler months.

Don’t forget about greenery

We delight in using plants as decor pieces – from small succulents to giant fiddle leaf trees – there is something for any sized room and they instantly make a space more inviting. Changing up your pots is another way to refresh your décor – bright colours for the summer months and moodier tones for winter ensures you don’t get sick of your surroundings.

Accessories can be great.

Another way to make your bedroom more homely is to add trinket trays, candles, artwork and other small accessories. Sticking to something more neutral? Adding in a small chair in the corner of a room can really bring things to life, or if you are an avid reader, colour-code your bookcase to make it pop.

Lighting is essential

Finally, adding in some mood lighting can really lift the vibe of the room and make it cosier. Avoid overhead lighting in the evenings and add in a desk lamp or a floor lamp to bring extra orange light to the room – this can also make you drift off into a deep sleep.
